I want to establish my non profit, now what?
Dear Coach,
I want to establish my non profit entity to provide technology training to individuals with disabilities. While this is my passion, I don't have a client base and I know it takes time to receive your status as a 501 c 3. I am not sure of what steps to take. Help!

Thank you for writing in Bridgette. Great mission. Have you thought about volunteering with an NPO providing services to individuals with disabilities - filling a service gap they may have? Also, you want to take the time to design your program while you complete IRS Form 1023 to apply for your status as a 501 c 3.
After you design your program, you could contact NPOs in your area and secure a collaborative partnership with one of these organizations so that they are your fiscal agent until you receive your status? If you decide to establish a collaborative partnership with an organization, you want to be sure the expectations for both parties are clearly defined.

Through the NBWEN Women's Fund, our desire is to award $20,000 in scholarships to deserving young ladies seeking a business degree from an accredited two- or four- year college or university, or vocational school, as well as grants to women in our community who wish to establish and grow their own business (startups in business less than 3 yrs).
Five women will each be awarded $2,500 grants, 5 women will each be awarded $1,000 scholarships, and 5 women will each be awarded $750 scholarships.
If you can help us with our goal of "Making a Difference... Ensuring Success", please take the opportunity to contribute in whatever amount you desire. ($1, $2, $5, $20, $100, $250, $500 or whatever you like)
