- Are you a woman starting or who owns her own business or an organiztion that caters to womenpreneurs? If you are NOT, you will be Denied membership. - I was born in Philadelphia but spent the majority of my childhood and adult life in Atlanta. I married young and gave birth to seven beautiful children. I think, like a lot of women, I lost myself under the labels of wife and mother. But at the end of a 26 year marriage I found myself when I found writing. The moment I sat down with a pen and a spiral notebook, (because we were too poor to own a computer,) I knew I'd found my passion. When I'm writing I'm happy. When I'm writing I'm fulfilled.
That first little love story I began in that notebook, turned into many notebooks. I had no idea when I began that story I'd have an epic. Those notebooks translated into 1500 typed pages! At the time I knew nothing about the publishing industry, so when I approached a publisher with my giant manuscript I was extremely indignant when they laughed at me. Heck, I was thinking people would be getting a real deal... so much book for their money! LOl.
That happened several years ago. That first book has been honed down and is now Book 1 in the Dandelions Series, Dandelions Never Die, available now on Amazon.com.
I've now written seven novels and am working on the 8th, all about women learning to empower themselves, learning to love and overcoming amazing obstacles. After all, that's what we do, isn't it? :)
Unable to get an agent or publisher to give me the time of day, I published myself and ha've developed a small readership over the internet. Their accolades and encouragement have given me the strength to go on and finally, my debut novel, Dandelions Never Die. is out and available on Amazon.com in both paperback and on the KIndle.
Unfortunately I have no idea how to go about actually getting someone to buy it. I guess that's why I'm joining this network. Maybe I'll learn something or find someone interested in helping!

Through the NBWEN Women's Fund, our desire is to award $20,000 in scholarships to deserving young ladies seeking a business degree from an accredited two- or four- year college or university, or vocational school, as well as grants to women in our community who wish to establish and grow their own business (startups in business less than 3 yrs).
Five women will each be awarded $2,500 grants, 5 women will each be awarded $1,000 scholarships, and 5 women will each be awarded $750 scholarships.
